Satellite Makers Making Move Toward Mass Market Dealers..
Article Abstract:
Since the birth of the home satellite industry in 1980, sales of home satellite television systems have doubled each year and are expected to reach $1.4 billion in 1984. Hardware producers are offering affordable and easy-to-use high quality systems. They are hoping to generate widespread dealer interest with lower prices and downsizing. In the belief that smaller systems will reach a broader market, a number of well-known companies are entering the market. 1983 unit sales were over two hundred thousand and are expected to double in 1984. Average system cost will drop below $3,000.
