Article Abstract:
The World Industrial Robot Almanac 1998 reports that the number of new robot installations reached 84,900 units in 1997, 6.5% higher than in 1996. The report adds that demand for 1998 would reach 90,000 units in 1998 and 100,000 units in 1999. The statistics also reveal that US and European robots markets experienced record levels of growth in 1996 and 1997. The almanac is a joint project of the UN Economic Commission for Europe and the International Federation of Robotics.
