Typewriters that interface with computers are one of the hottest peripherals at retail. Suppliers are trying to keep this new genre in the spotlight. Inventories are being kept low as manufacturers test the market. Interfacing typewriters for under $500 are becoming the norm. Brother's new EP-44 weighs five pounds, offers computer input-output interface, 4K memory, letter quality and dot matrix printing and retails for $449. Casio has introduced a four model line. Olivetti has introduced a model with 8K of memory and a $775 list price.
