A quantitative approach to estimate the size of the time buffer in the theory of constraints

Article Abstract:

A quantitative approach was utilized to determine the optimal size of theory of constraints' time buffer. The approach is based on determining the maximal number of units waiting in the line that will sustain the biggest operational profits while safeguarding capacity constrained resources (CCRs) from becoming useless. Implementation of sensitivity analysis from the results obtained by the approach proved to be useful in the scheduling of production at CCRs.

The design of quality systems: a contingency approach

Article Abstract:

A framework was developed to formulate ways of designing a quality system. The framework, which outlines results that may arise from various types of quality systems, emphasize the importance of a contingency approach in designing quality systems. Implementation of the framework revealed that the design of a professional quality system should be different from a bureaucratic quality system.
