Contra-TQM in Newsweek
Article Abstract:
A Newsweek article entitled 'The Cost of Quality' claimed that several US firms have low regard for the effects of total quality management. The concept of statistical quality control/statistical process control (SQC/SPC) was an American achievement but ironically, it was the Japanese who practiced it to the fullest. The innate characteristics of the Americans such as individualism and excessive optimism made it impossible to properly implement the demanding discipline of SQC/SPC.

Issues for Clinton administration
Article Abstract:
The US business sector have several issues that it feels the Clinton administration should confront. The quality of education is the leading concern because of its inevitable effects to the kind of workers that will be produced and trained. The rising cost of health care is also a serious problem because of its effects on the financial stability of most firms. The deficit and the various regulations in the country are also two of the most pressing business concerns.

The total quality leader
Article Abstract:
The qualifications of the total quality leader (TQL) are analyzed to illustrate the problems involved in defining behavioral characteristics required by a specific task. The TQL qualities put forward by John Kendrick are at times sweeping and too rare to be found. For Kenrick, the TQL is someone who orchestrates situations to obtain results and places quality efforts above the need for recognition.
