Design for usability
Article Abstract:
Engineers should consider the end user in designing a product, and product success depends on the product's usability. Donald A. Norman of the University of California in San Diego has called for the application of cognitive science in design engineering. Cognitive engineering involves locating controls where they are easiliy found, providing clues on how controls and features can be operated and incorporating constraints into the design to lessen faulty operation.

More on sampling and Achilles' heel
Article Abstract:
Product sampling for quality control is not 100% reliable. To achieve greater reliability, the lot size from which a sample is taken should be at least 10 times the sample size. A table of estimated maximum fraction defection for various sample sizes with zero defects and their respective confidence levels is presented.
