Companies that operate 24-hour-a-day schedules must prepare night workers to fight fatigue. Alertness and thinking ability suffer when workers lack sufficient sleep. Strategies that minimize worker fatigue include keeping the noise factor low; providing music and conversation, plus cool temperatures and exercise.
