Optimal design of a generalized conveyor-serviced production station: fixed and removal item cases
Article Abstract:
An approach was proposed to optimally design the conveyor system. Specifically, the approach tries to make the arrival/service times of the conveyor system vary in a probabilistic manner. It involves the use of the two-step design method and the complex type method, which are both effective in yielding solution at faster computational times, to optimize a single generalized conveyor-serviced production station's fixed item case and removal item case, respectively.

Cyclic machine loading, product allocation and lot sizing in an asbestos cement sheet factory
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine cyclic machine loading techniques as part of a production management process. The analysis focuses on cyclic planning and considers the case of production specifications for an asbestos cement sheet factory. A problem requiring the splitting of production between two machines is also established. It is shown that cyclic planning may be implemented for setup decisions for machines over a span of 4 months.

Optimal production policy for a single-product single-machine problem with intermediate machine inspection allowed
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine an optimal production policy for a single-product single-machine problem. The study assumes that machines will go through periods of defective operation and need to be stopped for inspection and restorative work. Results show that management incurs costs when such processes occur. These costs include lost sales, customer goodwill loss, inventory cost and after-service repair cost.
