Differentiating system and execution problems
Article Abstract:
System problems are often mistaken for operator problems resulting in needless blame of operators and the implementation of useless changes. Managers should identify problems as either system or operator problems before trying to solve them. One way of correctly identifying problems is by using a control chart. Another is to identify all possible causes for a specific type of error. Communication and adequate supervision of operators will also help managers improve processes and eliminate errors.
