The great agency debate
Article Abstract:
Some members of the UK's Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) are suggesting that labour agencies should be allowed to join the organization in order to increase its membership. However, many ECA members have said that they will leave the ECA if this should happen and see such organisations as parasites. The increasing number of self-employed electrical contractors over the last decade has led to more interest in labour agencies and the ECA believes that quality and high standards can only be maintained if they are allowed membership.

Red carpet treatment: from Windsor Castle to the Royal Exchange, services consultant Oscar Faber has worked on many historic projects
Article Abstract:
Finding space for electrical services in historic buildings is a problem as ceilings are often inaccessible, and panelling on walls often limits access. Adequate fire protection is required but visual intrustion is a contentious aspect of the design side. Systems need to be disguised or alternatives sought which will satisfy preservationists, architects and meet legal requirements.
