Titanium nanoparticles move to the marketplace
Article Abstract:
Titanium nanoparticles have become commercially significant according to staff members at BHP Minerals, Center for Minerals Technology Intnl., Reno, NV. This mining company found itself in the nanotechnology business and ended up making materials for a great many uses including environmental cleanup and cosmetics. Altain Intnl. was once a mining exploration company. In 1994 it went into making/developing equipment for mineral recovery and processing. Titanium dioxide is a mineral product. Precursors of nanoparticles had been seen in intermediate products from ilmenite upgrading. Anatase nanoparticles seemed like something Altair could produce. From there, the new project emerged.
