US manufacturing executives grade themselves "C" on key quality areas
Article Abstract:
Results of a survey conducted by the National Council for Manufacturing Competitiveness show that most US manufacturing executives are not contented with their efforts in raising globalcompetitiveness. Most of the respondents identified continuous improvement as the area in which they are most lacking. Among the serious problems that concern the executives are lack of information, ineffective systems and unmet delivery times. On the other hand, most graded themselves highly on management,customer satisfaction and health and safety records.

Baldridge Award as a quality model

Many organizations around the world have instituted quality awards that are pattered after the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award. This development signifies the global acceptance of the Baldridge Award as a general criteria toward the realization of total quality management. The firms that have adopted the Baldridge Award criteria admit that the system has allowed them to enhance their quality improvement efforts and to increase profitability and market share.

Microtecnic 92 opens next month with more than 260 exhibitors; Quality for Europe to debut at Zurich show
Article Abstract:
More than 260 exhibitors will display at Microtecnic 92, the 13th International Exhibition for Production Measurement and Quality Control, to be held in Zurich, Switzerland, Oct 22-23, 1992. Most participants are from France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, and over a third of the attendees at the 1990 show listed their occupation as quality control. A new English-language magazine 'Quality for Europe' will be announced at the show.
