Community response to removals of plant functional groups and species from a Chihuahuan desert shrubland
Article Abstract:
A Chihuahuan desert was examined to find out the response of the plant community to experimental removals of selected perennial plant species or group of species. The result showed that either environmental conditions or intrinsic biological characteristics limit the ability of most plant species to respond to the removal of substantial fractions of community biomass and composition in the short term.

Local and regional processes in low-productive mountain plant communities: The roles of seed and microsite limitation in relation to grazing
Article Abstract:
A two-year seed sowing experiment is conducted to test whether a plant community in a low-productive mountain snowbed is limited, with help of seed or microsite availability and how these variables depend on natural grazing. Low-productive mountain snowbeds are prone to colonization from the local species pool and even high species richness might not constrain ingression on new species.
