Importance of correlations among matrix entries in stochastic models in relation to number of transition matrices
Article Abstract:
The aim of the study was to compare different stochastic demographic methods in relation to number of transition matrices. Simulations based on incompletely estimated correlations among matrix entries considerably differed from those based on all correlations estimated, particularly when correlations were strong.

Species accumulation curves analyzed by a class of null models discovered by Arrhenius
Article Abstract:
The analysis of large communities are demonstrated by two nonbiologoical time series, examination scores at the university of Oslo and stock prices on the Oslo stock market. This procedure makes it possible to identifying the major factors responsible for the shape of the curves in the accumulation plots.

Resprouting of herbs in disturbed habitats: is it adequately described by Bellingham-Sparrow's model?
Article Abstract:
The Bellingham-Sparrow's model is examined for the explanation of the population dynamics of herbaceous plants under disturbance. The successful representation of growth form of resprouting perennials in a frequent and severe disturbed habitat is described.
