Long-term vegetation recovery after vehicle track abandonment on Dartmoor, SW England, U.K.
Article Abstract:
A study on long-term vegetation recovery after vehicle track abandonment on Dartmoor, southwest England, shows that vegetation recovery is rapid in grassland and heathland sites. Growth of vegetation in regions of higher moorland and blanket bog is very slow and original vegetation composition is never attained in these regions. Environmental factors, the role of humans in damaging vegetation and steps taken to reverse environmental damage are important factors in vegetation recovery.
