Is delayed selfing adjusted to chemical cues of density in the freshwater snail Physa acuta
Article Abstract:
The delayed selfing allows self fertile organisms to reproduce even in the absence of mate, and is thought to have evolved as a reproductive assurance strategy. The waiting time and resource reallocation to future fecundity did not increase with increasing chemical cues of conspecifics density and hence there is no evidence that delayed selfing is plastic and adjusted to mate encounter probability.

The role of predation for seasonal variability patterns among phytoplankton and ciliates
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to understand the different degree of synchrony among populations observed within two freshwater plankton groups, phytoplankton and ciliates. It was found that predation was an important driver of the observed seasonal variability patterns in phytoplankton and ciliates and that competitive interactions only play a subordinate role.
