Farmers' perception of unsprayed crop edges in the Netherlands
Article Abstract:
The adoption of new farming practices such as unsprayed crop edges are influenced by the farmers' perceptive and behavioral attitudes. A survey of conventional arable farmers in the Netherlands familiar with unsprayed crop edges revealed a preference for such edges in cereals and grass strips due to their compatibility with existing farm practices. The ideal crop edge was perceived to be of flexible width to correspond to regional variations in cropping patterns. The findings provide insight into the link between ecologically desirable and socially acceptable changes in farm practices.

Decision-making for fire use among farmers in savannas: an exploratory study in the Distrito Federal, central Brazil
Article Abstract:
Farmers' use of fire in the savanna of the Distrito Federal, central Brazil, was studied to determine what affects their fire management decision-making. Farmers employ fire to stimulate the growth of fresh grass in pastures for their cattle and for clearing areas for planting. Findings revealed that the two primary factors for restricting the selection of possible options for farmers to attain their goals are income and time. However, perceptions also have a significant contribution in the decision-making process.
