Resistance of hybrid plants and animals to herbivores, pathogens, and parasites
Article Abstract:
Resistance of hybrid plants and animals to parasites, herbivores and pathogens is discussed in this review article. It can be disrupted by hybridization, at least in the case of parasites. Herbivores and fungal parasites of plant hybrids and internal and eternal parasites of animal hybrids are covered. Interspecific and intersubspecific hybrids known to occur in nature or have a natural equivalent are considered. Field studies and laboratory or common garden experiments are compared to models of resistance of hybridizing organisms. Ecological and evolutionary consequences of the interactions on host and parasite populations are looked at.

Vertebrate herbivores in marine and terrestrial environments: a nutritional ecology perspective
Article Abstract:
Nutritional ecology of marine vertebrate herbivores, especially teleost fish, can best be studied through their digestive physiology. Food resources, evolutionary trends and feeding patterns all are related to digestive physiology. Attempts to define broad functional groups of species based on a few characteristics has benefits, but some disadvantages. Understanding the trophic structure of coral reefs includes uncertainty about marine resource targets.

Cenozoic mammalian herbivores from the Americas: reconstructing ancient diets and terrestrial communities
Article Abstract:
An overview is presented on the shift to specialized browsing and grazing in herbivorous mammals of the Cenozoic era. Research includes dental adaptations, data on extant and extinct eutherian New World mammals, and the link between adaptation and the increase in grasslands.
