Declining extent of open-water refugia for top predators in Baffin Bay and adjacent waters
Article Abstract:
Changes in the fraction of open-water in 24 pack ice microhabitats examined over a 23-year time series using remotely-sensed microwave sea ice data is discussed. Potential consequences of reduced open-water for top marine predators include impacts on foraging efficiency and oxygen and prey availability.
