Soil, water and nutrient conservation in mountain farming systems: case-study from the Sikkim Himalaya
Article Abstract:
Research on the agricultural system used in the Khanikhola watershed, Sikkim, India, shows that cash crops such as broom grass and cardamom are hydroecologically sustainable, helping maintain soil fertility. Findings suggest that additional agroforestry components would strengthen conservation capabilities.
