The role of nectar sources for oviposition decisions of the common blue butterfly Polyommatus icarus
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that females of Polyommatus icarus use inflorescences to find both nectar sources and oviposition sites, and that foraging for adult nutrients is the proximate cause of this behavior is tested. The results suggest that nectar availability could play an important role in oviposition decision of P. icarus and could provide one explanation to why some phytophagous insects not always choose the host plant that gives the best offspring performance.

Landscape structure and phenotypic plasticity in flight morphology in butterfly Pararge aegeria
Article Abstract:
An evaluation is conducted regarding to what extent a particular genotype produces different landscapes using the speckled wood butterfly, Pararge aegeria as a model. Results suggest the existence of phenotypic plasticity in butterfly flight morphology associated with landscape structure.

Conservative resource utilization in the common blue butterfly - evidence for low costs of accepting absent host plants?
Article Abstract:
Host plant preference of the common blue butterfly, Polyommatus icarus, and larval performance on two different host plants are studied. The study species is a amall lycaenid butterfly believed to be relatively sedentary.
