Valuation of the environmental impacts of the Kayraktepe Dam/Hydroelectric project, Turkey: an exercise in contingent valuation
Article Abstract:
A more complete and informed economic analysis of Turkey's Kayraktepe Dam and hydroelectric power plant indicates the project is economically undesirable and construction of the project needs to be reconsidered. The dame and power plant are planned for the Goksu River and although it has hydroelectric is promoted as an environmentally friendly and renewable energy source, this particular project will create dramatic economic and environmental losses.

Research indicates that civil war refugees from Rwanda have had a significantly negative impact on conservation efforts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Categories explored include soil erosion, poaching, deforestation and landslides due to increased hunting, cultivation and logging brought on by increased population density.
