Water resources in China: problems and countermeasures
Article Abstract:
China is among the world's 13 water-deficient countries, restricting its agricultural, industrial, and city developments. About 50% of all cities in China experience water-shortages and about 108 have a serious lack of water. The Chinese government has taken some measure to combat the problem by construction of large-scale water conservation projects and implementing laws to strengthen water-resource management.

Assessment of duckweed Lemna aequinoctialis as a toxicological bioassay for tropical environments in developing countries
Article Abstract:
Researchers in this study collected tropical duckweed Lemna aequinoctialis Welwitsch in Thailand and Philipines to develop a toxicological bioassay for tropical environments. They investigated optimal conditions required for conducting ecotoxicological growth tests to test the effects of heavy metals. They found that the sensitivity of the two duckweed strains were similar.
