The 1995 Burgundy vintage took a great deal of time to ferment, and the vintage is expected to be spotty because of the weather during the growing season. Vintners are excited about some of the 1995s, which are reminiscent of the 1993s.

French growers harvest New Year's grapes

A group of vintners in Gascony took advantage of the weather and harvested enough grapes for 600 cases of wine on Jan 1, making their wine the first French crop of 1992. Harvest normally occurs in November.
