At the 1998 California Wine Experience in San Francisco, CA Dominique Laurent, a French wine maker who is concerned with revitalizing Burgundy wine, spoke beofre a gathering of 50 connessieurs. Laurent feels that new oak and allowing the terroir of the Burgundy vineyards to be experienced by the wine drinker.

Burgundy's wildest wine weekend

A three-day extravaganza of food, parties and wines is held annually on the third weekend in November to honor the wines of Burgundy. The events are known collectively as Les Trois Glorieuses, and a Hospices de Beaune auction is included.
