Going organic in California: sulfite-free wines made at Hillcrest
Article Abstract:
Sulfites, which have been used to make nearly all wines for 500 years, are eliminated from John Schumacher's wines. The vintner's Organic Wine Works label offers organic wines that are oxidized in a sulfite-free manner that Schumacher calls a trade secret.

California vintners breathe easier with heavy rains
Article Abstract:
Vintners in California wine regions were pleased to have a good 1993 rainy season after six years of drought. Vineyard owners had poor grape yields during the years of 1987 through 1992. The industry is still suffering due to the recession.

'Starr' falls on Napa's Spottswoode
