Powerful 1997 ports
Article Abstract:
Many Port producers are calling the 1997 vintage the greatest vintage in a long time, and perhaps the greatest of all time. The Ports are comparable to those of the '94 vintage, and have powerful tannins and rich fruit. A guide to top-scoring 1997 Ports, selected Ports from 1960-1997, and an alphabetical list of other 1997 Ports are included.

The touchy subject of vintage Port
Article Abstract:
Makers of vintage Port are becoming increasingly reluctant to declare vintages or even invite reporters to taste young Ports. Whether or not 1991 Ports will be declared by most vintners is unknown. Many fear that there will be little demand for young Ports.

Despite slack demand, '91 vintage Ports to be declared
Article Abstract:
Several Port producers will be shipping a 1991 vintage, while others are waiting to decide. Sandeman has decided not to bottle the 1991. Prices for Port are down, and people are not buying them as futures in great numbers.
