Quality Renaissance in Burgundy
Article Abstract:
Mersault vintner Domaine Jacques Prieut has excellent Burgundy available at bargain prices. The 1990 Mersault Perrieres at $50 is outstanding, as is the 1990 Volnay Clos des Santenots at $35 to $40. This chateau's wines are not well known.

Fruitless search for quality Burgundy
Article Abstract:
Locating a high-quality red Burgundy costing less than $50 is a difficult task. Tastings of 1985 Beaune of Jean Claude Boisset, 1983 Latricieres-Chambertin from Domaine Louis Trapet Pere & Fils and others showed no exciting prospects.

On the hunt for great Burgundy
Article Abstract:
Bordeaux wines of 1982 were good, but Burgundies of the same year were disappointing, although many are now reaching the drinkable stage. Burgundy vintages of 1985 and 1989 are excellent. Several wines are discussed.
