Elias Fernandez is a winemaker who evaluates grapes for Shafer Vineyards, which makes one of California's most sought-after wines, the Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon. Elias is one of the few winemakers who personally inspect each barrel both visually and by smelling and he was also awarded the Winemaker of the Year in 2003 by the prestigious Quarterly Review of Wines.
