The 1991 marriage of actress Jane Fonda to media tycoon Ted Turner was described as a 'merger of two empires.' It was widely believed that it was the start of a new powerful show-business alliance. This was soon proved wrong when Fonda chose to leave Hollywood and devote herself to her family.
