Technological innovations in the reduction of waste products in systems and processes are required for the efficient utilization of the world's resources. A zero waste design that converts byproducts into useful raw materials must be adopted by engineers. Technical professionals can also articulate on changes in economic policies needed to effect greater use of bioresources.

A return visit to Tunisia, after a 35-year absence, is described. Tunisia is North Africa's smallest country, and it remains an enchanating place to visit, although the city of Tunis itself has suffered somewhat over the 35-year period, as have most cities.
