Levine and Campbell, adieu
Article Abstract:
Democrat Congressman Mel Levine and Republican Congressman Tom Campbell both ended their political careers after losing their respective senate bids in primaries. Levine stated the need for a stronger majority leadership to offset the Republican minority's opposition in Congress. He plans to pursue a career as a lawyer and may make another bid for the Senate. Meanwhile, Campbell, who has performed well during his tenure, will teach full time in January in Stanford Law School. He noted that the government deficit resulted from the unconcern of both Democrtats and Republicans in Washington.
