Fenway Park goes electronic with proximity system

Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, has recenlty completed the installation of an electronic access system to improve security. The facilities managers have designed a cost-effective solution to meet the security needs of the country's oldest ballpark. The access system has combined controllers from Northern Computers Inc of Milwaukee, WI, and proximity cards and readers from HID of Irvine, CA. Among the beneficial features of the new system are tracking capabilities and database reports.

Axis Communications Inc of Chelmsford, MA, and Lund, Sweden, is the supplier of the computerized security system being utilized for America True, the San Francisco Yacht Club's entry to America's Cup 2000. The yacht, which is competing in the Louis Vuitton Cup off New Zealand, is using a system of surveillance cameras with network-attached storage devices. These include CD/DVD servers, Web camera servers, print servers and scan servers.

Networking helps Montreal police secure access
Article Abstract:
Sensormatic Electronics Corp of Boca Raton, FL, supplied the networked access system requirement of the Montreal Urban Community (MUC) police system. The Sensormatic C-Cure 800 system, which uses proximity/smart cards supplied by HID of Irvine, CA, is expected to be used in about 60 buildings that under the protection of the MUC in Montreal, Quebec. The system upgrade is expected to take about three years.
