Lights! camera! action! Southern states attract film makers
Article Abstract:
A consistent depreciation of the US dollar during the past seven years made it expensive for US film makers to shoot outside of the country, as a result many producers shot in the Southern part of the US where the costs are lower. The trend had influenced states in the South to provide incentives to attract the movie industry in the areas of sales and use taxes, hotel taxes, labor taxes, investment credits, flat rebate or credit, and fee-free filming. Many movie locations have been made into tourist attractions gradually converting areas into tourist destinations.
