Race to spend money
Article Abstract:
The availability of campaign expenditures across the U.S. states in the 1970s induced the increase in the spending in gubernatorial elections. Campaign expenditures rose by 117 percent, from $467.6 million in the 1977 election, to $1.02 billion in the 1999 elections. Expenditures in seven of the 2006 state races are given.

Article Abstract:
The possible use of a new system in presidential nominations is discussed. It is expected that the rotation of regional primaries could provide a more reasonable timeframe for campaigning, and can solve other problems that can affect the candidacies of nominees. Voters could also have a longer look at the candidates.
