Teaching versus research: a model of state universitiy competition
Article Abstract:
This article analyzes competition between two state universities that teach and conduct research in the same area. Four types of equilibria are found: , full-time research, full-time teaching, mass teaching plus research and selective teaching plus research, all of which can be determined through the government's manipulation of the financial scheme of the institutions.

Intraschool variation in class size: patterns and implications
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the relationship between class size and academic achievement are examined, focusing on how class size may affect racial and ethnic differences in test scores. Results indicate that larger classes adversely affect achievement, and racial and ethnic differences in class size can also account for differences in test scores.

Over education, regional labor markets, and spatial flexibility
Article Abstract:
The phenomenon of over education is explained, with the help of macro level opportunities and micro level restrictions. The results show that the size of labor market is an important factor in avoiding over education.
