Drug holidays: a vacation from medications
Article Abstract:
Over-medication is a problem for many patients in nursing homes. One solution is called a drug holiday in which patients remain medication free one day a week. Some considerations in implementing this program are obtaining the cooperation of all staff, developing some criteria for evaluating patients, and involving the patients in the program.

Improving personal effectiveness through better management of time
Article Abstract:
Nursing home personnel encounter time pressures due to the nature of the work of caring for the elderly and disabled. Staff members need to evaluate their concept of time, how they manage it, and then learn new skills in making the most effective use of time. These techniques are appropriate both for work and in one's personal life.
