Low fat, low cost
Article Abstract:
Hershey Foods Corp has instituted its own point-of-service health care network for employees, responding to health costs that were rising 15-18% per year. Costs are now rising 10% annually, and more than one-quarter of Hershey-area employees have joined the plan. Hershey studied data from local hospitals and chose nine regional hospitals for contracts with the network, which also includes 180 primary care physicians and 800 specialists. The company plans to add services such as mental health care and expand the network to its Hazleton, PA, work site.
