Nonpharmacologic interventions in the treatment of heart failure
Article Abstract:
Patients in heart failure may benefit from non-drug treatments such as exercise, stress reduction, and fat intake reduction. The left ventricle of hearts damaged through heart attack may show improved functioning after several months of aerobic exercise. Some patients can learn how to control their body's response to stress by learning relaxation techniques. Patients must be motivated to improve their cardiac health and have supportive family members and health care professionals to make the most of non-drug therapy.
