The strategic agenda for community health care organizations
Article Abstract:
There are strategies that can be used to equip Community Health Care Organizations (CHCO) for efficient handling of the health needs of the 21st century. These CHCOs should have a community vision that includes five important elements: health, cost containment, steady progress, respect for all, and a collaborative approach. The suggested strategies include increasing operational efficiency, developing clinical protocols for high-quality patient care, wage restructuring, and a participative scheme in hospital management.

Managing interdependence on the unit
Article Abstract:
Close collaboration is necessary to limit mistakes and improve the efficiency of health care professionals working in hospitals. One technique that could prove helpful in fostering collaboration among hospital staff is a decision-making tool known as 'responsibility charting.' This decision-making tool allows members of middle management teams to clarify their roles in relation to one another and work more effectively with senior management in an ambulatory care center of a large teaching hospital.

When resources are scarce: the impact of three organizational practices on clinician-managers
Article Abstract:
Clinician-managers (CM), or health professionals in management positions, are more satisfied with consultative practices than avoidance and forcing practices of hospitals. Hospitals should therefore take steps to better understand their methods of addressing issues and their CM's satisfaction with these methods. Practices that help CMs focus on the ethical issues arising from resource allocation would lead to greater satisfaction.
