Trustee tension: can board members get their act together and build true system governance?
Article Abstract:
An integrated healthcare system should define its mission and values before making decisions. Hospital trustees may represent various components of the system, but they should be prepared to modify any branch to strengthen the system. For example, Promina Health Systems Inc., Atlanta, GA, was formed from three large medical groups. Board members must resolve competing issues, including projections of the needed services at certain hospitals.
