What role for hospitals in the health care endgame?
Article Abstract:
Hospitals would have to integrate themselves into the developing managed care systems in order to survive the restructuring of the health industry. One means of survival is by minimizing health care costs by downsizing staff and paring down services. They must also create administrative roles for physicians which would involve a collaboration between doctors and hospitals in cost-cutting measures, and also to shift from specialty care to a wider range of services.

Hospitals: from center to periphery
Article Abstract:
The implementation of health care reforms in the health care industry is expected to have a detrimental effect on physicians and hospitals. Such reforms will allow managed-care companies to dictate the pace and costs of health care delivery and eliminate competition from sectors offering in-patient treatment services. This will limit the patients' choice of physicians and hospitals and downgrade the status and income of medical professionals in hospitals.

Assessing relative health plan risk with the RAND-36 health survey
Article Abstract:
The future real per capita health expense by adult health maintenance organizations was evaluated by means of multivariate models based on the RAND-36 health survey. Two types of risk factors, the demographic and the self-reported health status, were used in the study. Results indicate that the models were able to give better predictions than those which rely on gender and age alone.
