A case-crossover analysis of air pollution and mortality in Philadelphia
Article Abstract:
A case-crossover analysis has been conducted of mortality and air pollution in Philadelphia, using data from 1973-1980, in a reassessment of an earlier study on the correlation between total suspended particulates and daily mortality from nonexternal causes . Results are discussed in terms of meteorology and air pollutant concentrations, description of daily mortality, Poisson regression models, and case-crossover regression models.

Episodes of high coarse particle concentration are not associated with increased mortality
Article Abstract:
Researchers studied the effects of high coarse particle concentrations, or dust storms, in Spokane, Washington, to determine if high concentrations result in increased mortality risk. It was concluded that coarse particle concentrations, unlike fine particle concentrations, do not significantly contribute to increased mortality.

An association between fine particles and asthma emergency department visits for children in Seattle
Article Abstract:
Research attempts to discover the relationship between inner city air pollution and increased occurrence of asthma in children living in Seattle, WA. The increase in the number of children admitted into hospital emergency rooms due to respiratory-related illnesses is evaluated.
