A new dual-vector approach to enhance recombinant adeno-associated virus-mediated gene expression through intermolecular cis activation
Article Abstract:
Researchers describe a way of enhancing recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) gene delivery by concatamerizing two viruses, one encoding the transgene and one encoding the promoter. The presence of the promoter in the circularized molecule increases expression of the transgene. This can overcome the limited packaging capacity of rAAV.

Overcoming adeno-associated virur vector size limitation through viral DNA heterodimerization
Article Abstract:
Researchers have been able to double the packaging capacity of adeno-associated virus (AAV) by dimerizing two split viral vectors. Using this technique, a gene that is too large for AAV can be split into two parts and packaged into two split vectors.

Genetic capsid modifications allow efficient re-targeting of adeno-associated virus type 2
Article Abstract:
The human parvovirus adeno-associated virus type 2 will accept foreign proteins inserted via genetic engineering. The virus could then be targeted to specific tissue types to deliver therapeutic genes.
