Dietary intake and exposure to environmental tobacco smoke in a worksite population
Article Abstract:
A study of the dietary intake of nonsmokers exposed to environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) at work and at home showed that people exposed to ETS at home consumed lower quantity of all target micro-nutrients and those exposed to ETS at the workplace consumed less of vegetables, fruits and vitamin C. Nonsmokers exposed to ETS had poorer dietary intake and ETS exposure at home affected the food habits to a greater extent. Diet improvement in passive smokers may reduce risk of some cancers.
