After decades of drought, new drug possibilities flood TB pipeline
Article Abstract:
There are nearly 30 new drugs under development for tuberculosis (TB) and the earliest one is expected to hit the clinic in 2010. New public-private partnerships such as the Global Alliance for TB Drug Development are encouraging companies to get back into developing new drugs for treating TB, which kills nearly 2 million each year when compared to AIDS.

Can the thymus win the battle against drug-resistants HIV?
Article Abstract:
The authors explore the HIV isolates which are resistant to the protease inhibitor treatment. The subjects that interest the authors include the ability of these isolates to replicate in thymocytes producing T-cells and the ways to protect the immune system from the pathogenic HIV-1 strains.
