Alcoholism
Article Abstract:
An alcoholic describes how alcohol has affected his life and work. He recalls how he had become a regular at his local pub by the age of 16 and how he felt that drink was the solution to his problems of shyness and feelings of inferiority. He recounts his time at university when he regularly drank five or six pints a night, but still did not consider he had a drink problem. He recalls how drink led him to fail his degree and destroy his chances of becoming a teacher, and how it affected his marriage. He discusses his several attempts at detoxification and two suicide attempts. He recounts how his introduction to Alcoholics Anonymous was a turning point and how he has been able to stop drinking for five years.

Migraine
Article Abstract:
Migraine attacks can cause employees to resign because of the frequency and severity of attacks. Some employers can be understanding about the problem and may offer part-time work or sabbaticals as temporary measures, but the stress of continuous attacks can cause employees to feel isolated and become depressed. Migraines typically cause excruciating, unrelievable pain that may start with a strong hunger. Attacks can include nausea and vomiting following by dehydration. Sufferers are advised to maintain a diary to establish triggering factors.
