Counseling against smoking needn't be expensive
Article Abstract:
Physicians can adopt cost-effective strategies to incorporate anti-smoking counseling as part of regular medical examinations. Physicians can place posters throughout the office promoting smoking cessation. Also, patients should be asked if they smoke. Physicians should advise patients to stop smoking and offer assistance. An office worker could be designated as a smoking cessation coordinator to help provide follow-up support for patients.
