We must work together to repair our moral potholes
Article Abstract:
A doctor struggles to find creative ways to finance patient visits, as patients are increasingly demanding in the era of managed care. Although his patient needed a prescription for a topical anesthetic for electrolysis, the product for a cosmetic purpose was not covered by her insurance. After toying with finding a code for the condition that could be billable to the preferred provider organization, the doctor decided to tell the customer the truth. Other minor moral and potentially economically damaging situations occur increasingly at doctors' practices.
