Altered states
Article Abstract:
A good body image is essential in order to be able to express sexuality. Failure to acquire an awareness of self image during childhood can lead to problems in later life. Complementary medicine can offer many remedies for this and other related conditions such as dysmenorrhoea through homoeopathic and Chinese medicines, massage and yoga. Using acupuncture on 49 women suffering from dysmenorrhoea resulted in 42 experiencing no pain whilst for 6 women the pain was reduced. For the nurse a knowledge of such remedies would extend their ability to care for their patients.

All work and no play
Article Abstract:
Nurses considering taking a degree should give a lot of thought to the reasons, to the cost and to what will be involved, as a degree is not necessary for them to follow their occupation and will consume a lot of time. It is important for nurses to have some social life, as being totally absorbed in work is not good from a physical or emotional point of view. It could cost several thousand pounds sterling to take a degree, for insufficient financial reward or status.
